Nintendo clarifies details on pre-orders for the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console.

The hunt for the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console has turned into a chaotic experience for fans eager to secure one. Major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Best Buy are reporting that the Triforce-themed console is sold out, and any restocks vanish almost instantly.

Interestingly, Nintendo itself might have the best tips for snagging a Zelda Switch 2.

If you check out the official Nintendo page for the 40th anniversary Zelda Switch 2 console, you’ll notice a banner stating, “The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary collection is currently sold out. We will announce when stock is replenished via the Nintendo Store app.”

The page features a “Find Retailers” button, but it currently indicates that the product is unavailable online. However, Nintendo does provide a list of nearby GameStop locations. While GameStop isn’t accepting online pre-orders, you might have luck visiting a local store to place a pre-order in person.

You can download the Nintendo Store app, which allows you to favorite products you’re interested in. By signing into your Nintendo account and enabling notifications, you’ll receive alerts when items are back in stock. The console and its accessories should be prominently displayed on the app’s main page when you open it.

In the meantime, the foil cover version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still available for pre-order through Nintendo. However, the base Pro Controller and the version with a kickstand are out of stock, along with the 40th anniversary carrying case and screen protector.

As of early September 10, Best Buy indicates that the console is coming soon, while Amazon and Target have run out of pre-orders. Based on Nintendo’s updates, it seems likely that these retailers will restock eventually. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, eBay could be an alternative option.

Nintendo has unveiled a special Zelda foil cover, a themed Switch 2, and console accessories, encouraging fans to pre-order now.
