Nintendo unveiled an exciting new entry in the Xenoblade series during the latest Nintendo Direct. The trailer for Xenoblade Genesis offered a glimpse into the game’s early scenes, though it didn’t dive deep into gameplay mechanics. The world of Xenoblade Genesis is infused with a special power called Anima, which can be harnessed by warriors known as Vesselai. From what we gathered, players will take on the role of a warrior-in-training, as the game appears to be set in a magical academy.
During the presentation, Yoshiaki Koizumi, a senior executive at Nintendo, described Xenoblade Genesis as a “new beginning” and encouraged fans to share their expectations for the stories that will unfold. He also hinted at future updates but didn’t specify when they would arrive.
Currently, we know that Xenoblade Genesis is in the works for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a release anticipated in 2027.
Additionally, Nintendo announced that enhanced versions of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are on the horizon for the Switch 2. Each title will feature visual improvements and new content, with more details promised down the line. The digital edition and upgrade pack for the first game will be available starting Tuesday, while Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is set to receive its upgrade on July 30, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on December 3.
Nintendo is also working on a remake of Link’s iconic 3D time-traveling adventure.
