Nintendo Switch 2 Set to Launch with Exclusive Zelda-themed Console and Controller
The first special edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly leaked, and unsurprisingly, it’s themed around the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise.
Images are making the rounds online showing what seem to be boxes for a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and a matching Pro Controller. While the origin of these images is uncertain, they appear credible and align with insider rumors suggesting that such editions are on the horizon.
Both the console and the controller feature a sleek black, dark green, and gold color scheme, adorned with an intricate gold Triforce design and logos celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary. Specifics like pricing and release dates remain under wraps, but it’s anticipated that these items will launch alongside the Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2. Fans are speculating a mid-November release, potentially clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6, given Nintendo’s history of releasing amiibo alongside game launches.
It’s exciting to see Nintendo exploring more visually distinct designs for the Switch 2. However, as someone who already owns a Switch 2, it’s a bit frustrating to think about shelling out for a new console just for the aesthetics. What I’d really prefer is a wider variety of Joy-Con colors available separately, and I mean actual different colors, not just slight variations in the internals that aren’t visible when they’re attached to the console. The Joy-Con that come with this special edition look decent, but I doubt they’ll be sold individually.
Additionally, the prices for hardware and accessories are getting out of hand these days. I’d rather invest that money into the games themselves.
