Nintendo unveils a major surprise cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie just days before its premiere.
Just a week ahead of the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie from Nintendo and Illumination, the creators have chosen to unveil one of the film’s significant cameos. This revelation is sure to spark fresh discussions about the potential for a broader “Nintendo Cinematic Universe” that goes beyond just the Super Mario franchise (and Pikmin).
On Thursday, it was confirmed that Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series will make an appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While the extent of Fox’s involvement in Mario’s latest adventure remains unclear, he certainly seems poised to play a prominent role. A teaser shared on the movie’s Instagram showcases Fox striking a heroic pose in front of his Arwing, with an Ukiki looking on in admiration.
Let the speculation about a potential Super Smash Bros. Movie continue!
As for who will lend their voice to Fox McCloud, that detail is still under wraps, so don’t expect any surprises on the level of Donald Glover voicing Yoshi. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether other members of the Star Fox Team, like Falco, Slippy, and Peppy, will join the adventure in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Previously, it was announced that the film will include characters not typically associated with the Super Mario universe, such as Pikmin and Nintendo’s ROB. It raises the question of just how far Nintendo is willing to push the boundaries of Mario’s lore.
More details will be revealed soon, as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 1.
This could be a monumental year for Rosalina!
