Nintendo Unveils Exciting Lineup of Switch 2 Games – Check Out Our Impressions!
Nintendo dropped a ton of exciting news about upcoming titles for the Switch 2 this Tuesday. Much of the buzz you’ll see today, including details on *Mario Tennis Fever* and the new *Super Mario Bros. Wonder* expansion, stems from a preview event held back in January in New York City. Here’s a quick recap of our hands-on experience.
The event kicked off with a 30-minute session of *Mario Tennis Fever*, the exclusive sports title launching on February 12. This game is an absolute blast! We dove into several solo and doubles matches, experimenting with a variety of characters and rackets. Each racket has the ability to unleash a Fever Shot, which creates hazards like tornadoes, blizzards, or banana peels on the opponent’s side. Our preview goes into more detail, but these special abilities turn standard tennis matches into chaotic battlegrounds.
It’s worth mentioning that our team won all four doubles matches. Sorry to the friendly competitors from other outlets!
After our court victory, we tackled *Meetup in Bellabel Park*, the new expansion for *Super Mario Bros. Wonder*, set to release on March 26 alongside the Switch 2 version. This isn’t just a set of new levels; it feels more like a collection of Mario Party-style minigames based on what we played. Our preview covers it in depth, but the gist is that you’ll either team up with friends or compete against them in a series of quick, inventive challenges.
Unfortunately, our team didn’t fare as well in that round.
After our unexpected defeat in the realm of Mario Party minigames, we split up. My colleague Giovanni Colantonio took a spin with the Virtual Boy revival (launching on February 17) and came away with this insight: “It’s disorienting, the games are rough, and I left with a bit of back pain. But that’s exactly what I wanted.”
Meanwhile, I explored Capcom’s upcoming Switch 2 titles, including a brief five-minute glimpse of *Resident Evil Requiem* (I encountered the first zombie and promptly exited) and about 30 minutes of *Pragmata*, a sci-fi action game that was so impressive I played through its demo twice. It’s set to release on April 24, and I can’t wait for it to drop.
As for Nintendo’s plans for 2026, things are still a bit murky. *Pokémon Pokopiah* is set to hit the Switch 2 on March 5, followed by *Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream* on April 16 for the original Switch. The platformer *Yoshi and the Mysterious Book* and the *Smash Bros.* incubator *Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave* are both on the docket for 2026, but no specific release dates have been announced yet. Overall, Nintendo’s spring lineup looks promising, and we’re eager to see how the rest of the year unfolds.
