Nioh 3 Could Make Its Xbox Debut Following Six Months of PS5 Exclusivity, Reveals New Trailer
The Nioh series might be gearing up for its first appearance on Xbox or Nintendo with the upcoming Nioh 3, as it has been confirmed that the game will have a six-month exclusivity period.
For nearly a decade, Nioh has quietly stood out as one of the top PlayStation exclusives, with both the original and its sequel drawing inspiration from the challenging gameplay of FromSoftware titles. Developed by the creators of the notoriously tough Ninja Gaiden series, these games have only been available on PS4, PS5, and PC due to their publishing arrangement. However, that could soon change, as Koei Tecmo’s Nioh 3 appears set to make its way to other consoles.
We already know that Nioh 3 will be available on PC from day one, unlike its predecessors, but the latest trailer reveals an intriguing detail on the PS5 splash screen regarding its console exclusivity: “Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 6 months after February 6, 2026.”
This doesn’t guarantee that Nioh 3 will hit other platforms on August 6, 2026—previous exclusivity disclaimers, like those for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, show that timelines can be flexible. It also doesn’t ensure that it will come to other consoles at all (looking at you, Demon’s Souls). However, given the combination of this disclaimer and Koei Tecmo’s involvement, it seems like a reasonable assumption. The big question now is whether it will also land on the Nintendo Switch 2 and if the earlier Nioh titles will be released on other platforms alongside the third installment. We’ll have to wait until August for more clarity!
Nioh 3 is already shaping up to be my top pick for Soulslike games in 2026, feeling like Team Ninja’s answer to Elden Ring with its expansive exploration and fierce yokai battles.
