Nioh 3 has already set a record for the highest player count in the series on PC, proving that a simultaneous release is a winning strategy.
According to SteamDB, the concurrent player count for Nioh 3 has been on a steady rise. Initially, it peaked at 53,237 players, but as of the latest check, it has surged to 70,186. This impressive figure already surpasses its predecessors, with Nioh reaching 10,649 at launch in 2018 and Nioh 2 hitting 41,325 in 2021.
This marks the first time a game in the Nioh series has launched simultaneously on PC, as previous titles were PS4 exclusives for their initial years. This strategy has clearly paid off, allowing PC gamers to dive into the action without needing to invest in a console version, and capturing that exciting day-one hype.
Nioh 3 has received a solid reception, boasting an 86 on Metacritic, which is an improvement over Nioh 2’s 85, though it falls short of the original’s 88. As one of the first major AAA releases of the year and currently the highest-rated game of 2026, Nioh 3 is off to a fantastic start, potentially elevating the series to new heights.
For the first time in nearly a decade, Nioh 3 might be making its way to Xbox!
