Nitro Deck 2 Unveiled for Nintendo Switch 2

The Switch 2 is an enjoyable console, but it does have some ergonomic limitations for handheld gaming. To address this, CRKD is introducing the Nitro Deck 2, designed specifically for the Switch 2, with a price tag of $100. The best part? It’s also compatible with the original Switch and is set to launch in Spring 2026, available in two color options: White and Smoke Black.

If you’re eager to enhance your Switch 1 experience right now, the existing CRKD Nitro Deck and Nitro Deck+ are excellent choices, priced between $50 and $60. These controllers come in a variety of colors, including black, PAL grey, and a nostalgic purple. The standard Nitro Deck boasts full-size Hall Effect analog sticks and triggers, a traditional D-pad, four remappable back buttons, motion controls, rumble, turbo functionality, and ergonomic curved handles, making it compatible with both the standard and OLED Switch models. The Nitro Deck+ shares a similar design but adds features like HDMI out support via the USB-C port for docked mode without removing the console from its cradle, a symmetrical thumbstick layout, an eject function for easier screen removal, and enhanced rumble effects.

For those interested in third-party options, several controllers for the Switch 2 are currently available. The GameSir G8 Plus features an extendable bridge that can hold a Switch 2 and smaller tablets, offering a comfortable traditional controller design. It includes back buttons, Hall Effect sticks, dual trigger modes, a standard D-pad, and swappable joystick caps, retailing for $80. Another option from the same brand is the GameSir X5S mobile gaming controller, priced at $50, which has a more angular design and is compatible with Switch consoles, Android, and iOS devices. It also features Hall Effect sticks, dual linear motors for rumble, six-axis gyroscope functionality, and a turbo function for effortless gameplay.

Additionally, the Gameefy Switch 2 controller presents another appealing alternative to the Joy-Con 2. While it hasn’t been personally tested yet, it fits the Switch 2 console snugly and appears comfortable. It includes Hall Effect sticks, rumble support, a 1,000 mAh internal battery, a six-axis gyroscope, RGB joystick lighting, and storage for up to four game cards. This controller is currently on sale for $47.49, down from $54.
