No Man’s Sky fans face disappointment as hopes for Light No Fire news rise and fall after The Game Awards: “Looks like we’ll have to wait until next year.”
Light No Fire fans are feeling the sting after The Game Awards 2025 wrapped up without any updates on Hello Games’ highly anticipated fantasy exploration title. The only hint of hope came from one of the developers sporting a Light No Fire shirt—surely that has to mean something, right?
During the event, Hello Games snagged the Best Ongoing Game award for No Man’s Sky, which has been thriving for over nine years since its debut. Lead designer Ben Brooks and head of publishing Tim Woodley accepted the award, but what really caught everyone’s attention was Brooks’ intriguing shirt.
Reddit quickly lit up with excitement over the sighting. “LIGHT NO FIRE SPOTTED,” one user exclaimed. Another chimed in with, “I was also like ‘YOOOOOOOOOOOOO LNF SHIRT, IT MUST MEAN SOMETHING?????'”
But did it actually signify anything? Unfortunately, not in the immediate sense. The developers didn’t drop any announcements during the award acceptance, nor was a new trailer revealed. While the shirt technically confirmed Light No Fire’s presence at The Game Awards, it certainly wasn’t in the way fans had hoped.
Despite the lack of news, some fans held onto a glimmer of hope until the very end of the show. “There’s still time…” one user posted, a sentiment that quickly aged poorly.
In the aftermath, many have come to terms with the seemingly endless wait. “No LNF News. Nothing Ever Happens,” one user lamented, adding, “It’s official, we wait for next year.” Another expressed their frustration, saying, “I’ll wait, just wish I had some news.”
Hello Games’ Sean Murray has mentioned that the team working on the No Man’s Sky follow-up, Light No Fire, is “tiny” and operating “in the background.”
