No Man’s Sky Launches on iPhone and iPad

The No Man’s Sky universe is set to expand in an exciting new direction as it makes its way to iOS, with versions for both iPhone and iPad launching on October 28th.

Sean Murray from Hello Games shared that this mobile adaptation offers the complete No Man’s Sky experience, emphasizing, “This is not No Man’s Sky Lite.” Players can expect all the updates released since the game’s original launch, including last year’s massive Voyagers expansion. The only notable omissions will be multiplayer features and planetary settlements. Murray compares this release to the game’s initial debut on the original Switch, stating, “On Switch we have listened to players and built from there, including with a much expanded version on Switch 2. Based on feedback and player numbers, we will support iOS in a similar way.”

The game will be compatible with iPhone 11 and 3rd generation iPad Air and newer devices, and the download size is a surprisingly light 5GB. It features newly designed touch controls, along with support for controllers, screen casting, and mouse-and-keyboard functionality on the iPad. Murray highlights the effort put into optimizing battery life and thermodynamics, ensuring that players can enjoy long, comfortable gaming sessions. The game will be “free to try” at launch, though the price for the full version remains unspecified.

As No Man’s Sky celebrates its tenth anniversary, it has undergone significant transformations since its initial release. The iOS version will join a wide array of supported platforms, including Mac, PC, and nearly every modern console, along with a VR version. Hello Games has consistently enriched the game with a steady flow of free expansions, such as the recent Cosmos update in September, which added even more content to explore in the vastness of space.
