No Rest for the Wicked Soars to Steam’s Top Spot After Co-op Update, Outpacing Arc Raiders, Marvel Rivals, and Helldivers 2

No Rest for the Wicked’s latest co-op update has propelled Moon Studios’ action RPG to the top of the Steam charts, surpassing titles like Arc Raiders, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Forza Horizon 6.

After their work on Ori and the Blind Forest, Moon Studios shifted gears to develop the Diablo-inspired action RPG No Rest for the Wicked, which entered early access in 2024. The previous year was a rollercoaster for the game, especially after the studio regained its independence following the sale of its publishing arm. They faced a challenging patch that led CEO Thomas Mahler to describe it as “probably one of the worst days of my life.” Despite the turmoil and negative reviews, he reassured fans that the studio was not in immediate financial trouble.

Mahler had previously expressed a desire to elevate the game’s Steam rating from a “58 to a 90,” and now, two years later, it’s nearly there with an impressive 86% “Very Positive” rating. The new co-op update seems to be the catalyst for this surge in popularity, already making a significant impact.

No Rest for the Wicked Together launched on Thursday, January 22, coinciding with a free weekend and a 40% discount, making it easy for new players to dive in. Mahler celebrated the update’s success on Twitter, noting, “Okay, something is clearly happening here… No Rest for the Wicked is #1 on Steam right now, ahead of Arc Raiders, Forza Horizon 6, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2.”

He shared that the game is selling 50,000 copies daily, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support: “Thank you so much, folks! That’s unbelievable support and our team couldn’t be happier!” He also mentioned that they are hard at work on the 1.0 content and can’t wait to reveal it to everyone.

In other news, the new FPS Highguard is set for a full year of updates, designed to combat “live-service fatigue.”
