Old Game and AI Exploit Leads to Switch 2 Hack
The Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly been jailbroken, with a modder demonstrating the console running a custom version of Mario Kart World that includes new characters like Cinnamoroll, the red Angry Bird, Peter Griffin, and Steve from Minecraft.
According to Sammy Hajhamid, known as “pepsipu,” OpenAI’s Codex played a role in creating this “ns2jb” jailbreak. This is a software-only, tethered jailbreak, meaning you’ll need to initiate it from a game each time you power on the console for it to function. The exploit relies on the game SmileBASIC 4, which allows users to program and play games, although another modder suggests that this title may not be strictly necessary.
While this jailbreak appears quite complex for the average user, its overall significance remains uncertain. Discussions on the Switch 2 hacks subreddit indicate varying opinions on its impact. Nonetheless, this could signal the start of a series of exploits for the Switch 2, particularly if modders leverage AI in their efforts.
