Overwatch Expands Its Story with a New Webtoon Comic Release

Overwatch made a triumphant return on February 10 with the launch of Overwatch 2, introducing an exciting annual story-driven season cycle and five new heroes. The current narrative arc, titled The Reign of Talon, is set to expand significantly beyond the in-game content, bringing even more depth to the story.

In an exciting collaboration, Blizzard Entertainment has teamed up with Webtoon, the popular web comic platform boasting over 85 million monthly users, to create an original web comic based on the hero-shooter universe. Named Overwatch: Undivided, this 40-episode series picks up after Season 1: Conquest, following the aftermath of Talon’s raid on Watchpoint: Gibraltar. The new season kicked off with a cinematic trailer showcasing Vendetta, a fiery new character, storming Talon’s headquarters to confront its leadership and take down Doomfist.

With Vendetta now at the helm of Talon, she has initiated a global offensive, starting with Watchpoint: Gibraltar.

The official synopsis for Overwatch: Undivided reveals the stakes:

In the wake of Talon’s attack on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, the Overwatch heroes grapple with their crushing defeat. However, Vendetta is just getting started, launching strikes on research facilities, military bases, and major cities worldwide. As Sojourn rallies the exhausted heroes to counter Talon’s onslaught, she receives devastating news that challenges everything she believes: When the world claims it no longer needs heroes, can Overwatch remain united?

Fans are eager to see how the Overwatch heroes will respond, and there’s also curiosity about whether former Talon members like Reaper, Sombra, and Widowmaker will make an appearance following Vendetta’s takeover. While this isn’t the first time Overwatch has ventured into comics, the rebranding indicates a stronger emphasis on narrative, suggesting that Blizzard is committed to enhancing its storytelling.

Overwatch: Undivided will debut exclusively on Webtoon’s English-language platform, with the first three episodes set to release on March 31 at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT. Episodes 4–8 will be accessible through Webtoon’s Fast Pass, available for purchase with Webtoon Coins.
