Overwatch Season 5 Introduces Halloween Skins, Solo Leveling Gear, and a Breakdancing Frog
Overwatch Season 5 kicks off on Tuesday, introducing a fresh Support hero named Doctrine and a new Escort map called Grímsvötn. This season promises to shake things up with significant reworks for Roadhog and Sombra, altering the hero lineup and the overall meta.
Players can look forward to a spooky battle pass filled with stylish new skins inspired by Tech Witches, along with some jazzy formalwear options. Additionally, there’s an exciting anime collaboration inspired by Solo Leveling’s Shadow Monarch. A standout feature this season is Lúcio’s Mythic Weapon skin, which showcases a tiny breakdancing frog nestled within the weapon.
Here’s a rundown of what Overwatch fans can expect in terms of cosmetics and more for Season 5, titled A Grim Doctrine.
The battle pass includes several Halloween-themed skins. Legendary skins available to battle pass owners feature Ghostly Belle Ashe, Jack O’ Ripper Soldier: 76, Ghost Bride Mei, Bat Empress Junker Queen, and Autumn Fox Zenyatta. Three Epic skins are also part of the pass: Skelly Bastion, Witching Hour Brigitte, and Spectral Shroud Symmetra.
The Ultimate version of the battle pass will offer the Crimson Regent Doctrine and Ghost Voyager Venture Legendary skins.
Players looking to spend their in-game currency can grab new Tech Witches skins for D.Mon, Shion, Juno, Sierra, and Jetpack Cat, available in the in-game shop from October 9 to 26.
Additionally, there are new Legendary skins for Mizuki, Domina, Cassidy, Ashe (and BOB), Moira, and Ana. The Dokiwatch event returns, featuring skins for Mercy, Ilari, Lifeweaver, Ramattra, and Anran.
Lúcio will be sporting a new Mythic Weapon skin called the Treblemaker, which features the adorable blue breakdancing frog and a disco ball. Here’s how to unlock Lúcio’s first Mythic Weapon skin:
Support hero Wuyang also receives a new Mythic skin this season, Dragon Shaoxia Wuyang, with its own unlock progression.
From October 6 to 26, a set of collaboration skins inspired by Solo Leveling will be available in Overwatch.
This season marks the arrival of Grímsvötn, the first new Escort map in nearly four years. Once a Watchpoint for Overwatch and later controlled by Helix, this prison has housed some of the most dangerous criminals, including Doomfist himself.
Now, with Talon in control and Doctrine’s escape unfolding, players will navigate through the chaos of the prison, encountering fire, ice, stolen technology, and forgotten prisoners. Just be careful not to become the next permanent resident.
