Palworld Developer Responds to Criticism, Jokes About Controversial Game Changes

John “Bucky” Buckley, the outspoken lead at Pocketpair, has addressed accusations that the studio has neglected its popular open-world survival crafting game, Palworld. He argues that the updates released and those in the pipeline over the past two years of early access counter these claims.

On Twitter, where Bucky often shares his thoughts on industry matters, he quote-tweeted a comment suggesting that Pocketpair “dgaf” about Palworld anymore, asserting that it’s “quite obvious” after two years in early access.

“True, two free collaborations, two unreleased spin-offs, plus still in early access (read: boogeyman mode) because we are fixing and patching issues,” Bucky responded. “We definitely ‘dgaf’!

“We should drop 1.0 right now, add loot boxes, disable singleplayer, make it online only, then shut it down in 12 months,” he joked.

With Pocketpair recently celebrating two years of Palworld and teasing a significant 1.0 update, along with a collaboration with Epic for Fortnite, it’s tough to argue that the studio isn’t invested in the game.

However, concerns remain valid, especially considering Pocketpair’s previous title, Craftopia, which entered early access in 2020 and still hasn’t seen its 1.0 update. It seems Palworld is currently the studio’s main focus.
