Palworld’s 1.0 Launch Is Here, Featuring Extensive Patch Notes

After more than two years in early access, Palworld 1.0 is set to launch on Friday, July 10. Developer Pocketpair has been diligently working to bring its unique “Pokémon with guns” experience to full release, but the final stretch has presented an unexpected challenge. The extensive changes coming with Palworld’s full version have resulted in patch notes that are too lengthy to fit within Steam’s character limit.

Bucky, Pocketpair’s head of publishing and communications, shared a screenshot on social media indicating that the upcoming patch notes exceeded Steam’s maximum character count of 32,000. In a follow-up, Bucky revealed that the notes spanned 40 pages and totaled 65,000 characters—more than double the limit. This was significantly longer than an earlier screenshot that showed the notes as a 27-page document. Just a few hours later, Bucky announced they had resolved the issue without compromising any content.

A new trailer for Palworld 1.0 was released on Thursday, showcasing the exciting features players can expect in this major update. The update will introduce over 20 new pals and finally make the World Tree region playable, wrapping up the main storyline. Additionally, tower bosses, Wildlife Sanctuaries, and No-Hunting Zones are undergoing significant reworks. While existing saves should work with the 1.0 version, players are encouraged to start fresh for the best experience. This is just a glimpse of the extensive changes that will be detailed in the patch notes.

Pocketpair has confirmed that Palworld will maintain its early access price of $29.99 upon exiting early access. Although there was no official announcement regarding a price increase, the Steam page hinted that the price might rise closer to the full release. Since its early access debut, Palworld has seen tremendous success, recently surpassing 40 million players just days before the 1.0 launch. That number is expected to grow even more with the release.

Palworld is available on Mac, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
