Partial Settlement Reached in $200,000 Star Wars Lego Dispute Involving Bricks & Minifigs and Reckless Ben Drama
It’s been over two months since we last discussed Reckless Ben’s quest to recover the Mansell family’s $200,000 Star Wars Lego collection from Bricks & Minifigs Franchising, and the reason is simple: it turned into a tedious legal affair. Once the case landed in Utah’s courts, the initial excitement faded, and the situation began to unfold through the legal system.
After the temporary restraining order against Ben and the Mansell family lapsed, the long-awaited third part of Reckless Ben’s investigation was finally released. The intriguing “Mormon Mafia” angle that had captivated audiences took a back seat as Ben focused on documenting his legal battle in Utah.
Unfortunately for Ben, this part of the legal struggle is still ongoing, along with the lawsuit filed against Bricks & Minifigs Franchising by Chrystal Law Gorman, who, along with her husband, previously owned the Bricks & Minifigs store in Keizer, Oregon, where the Mansell family’s Lego collection went missing.
However, one of the three legal disputes has reached a resolution, and it’s the one that sparked this entire saga: BAM Franchising vs. the Mansell family.
In a joint statement on Bricks & Minifigs Franchising’s website, attributed to “BAM Franchising, Inc., Ammon and Matt McNeff, Baker Salem, Josh Johnson, Brandon Best and the Mansell family,” the group announced that they have reached a comprehensive and amicable resolution regarding the Mansell family’s LEGO Star Wars collection.
While the statement doesn’t specify the amount the Mansell family will receive, it clarifies that the settlement is “not an admission of liability, wrongdoing or unlawful conduct by BAM, the Mansells or any other released party” and notes that the Mansell family’s “collection was originally consigned to a former operator of the Bricks & Minifigs Salem/Keizer Oregon store.”
This detail is crucial, as Chrystal Law Gorman mentioned in an email that her lawsuit against BAM Franchising “is still moving forward and not affected by [the Mansells’] settlement agreement.” Additionally, it appears that Ben has not commented on the Mansell family’s resolution on his social media, and this settlement does not seem to impact his ongoing lawsuit against BAM Franchising either.
