Peak developers are feeling the adrenaline from their co-op game’s viral success, but expect a slower pace of patches and updates in 2026.

Peak has had an absolutely stellar year since its viral launch, and its co-developers have capitalized on the co-op climbing game’s sudden popularity. However, it looks like things will start to settle down for this comedy hit in the coming year.

In a recent blog post, the developers from Landfall and Aggro Crab shared, “We have a couple of cool things in the works for 2026, but we want to be transparent that the frequency of patches and updates will be slower.”

Despite their success, the team is committed to not transforming Peak into a live service game with constant additions. They noted, “Frequent updates with a small team can be overwhelming. We’ve been running on pure adrenaline and hype for the last couple of months, and both Aggro Crab and Landfall have their own studios to manage alongside Landcrab. So, keep an eye on both studios for new projects too.”

Landcrab reassured players that updates for Peak are still in development and that the game isn’t being abandoned at its peak. However, players should expect updates to take a bit longer than they might be used to.

For those who might not know, a few developers from Aggro Crab and Landfall initially came together for what was meant to be a four-week game jam project. Peak ended up selling over 11 million copies in less than a year, catching the indie teams off guard with its massive success.

Nonetheless, Landcrab has done a fantastic job of keeping the community engaged with regular patches and updates throughout the year. The latest winter update even introduced a new fan-favorite weapon: snowballs.

While the Peak developers didn’t take home any awards at The Game Awards, they still celebrated a “PEAK year”—just don’t “hit Bing Bong up rn.”
