Persona 4 Remake and Persona 6 Announced for Switch 2 Launch

Persona enthusiasts received exciting updates during the latest Nintendo Direct. As the launch of Persona 4 Revival approaches, it was confirmed that the remake will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.

But that’s not all—Persona 6 was also announced for the Switch 2.

There is a catch, though. Persona 4 Revival is set to launch on the Switch 2 on May 20, 2027, which is three months after its February 18 release on other platforms. While this may seem like a wait, it’s not too surprising considering Persona 3 Reload was released on the Switch 2 over a year and a half after its initial debut.

Persona 4 Revival is a remake of the beloved 2008 RPG from Atlus. The story follows a group of students in rural Japan as they delve into a series of murders and the eerie rumors surrounding a mysterious Midnight Channel on TV. The remake promises several enhancements, including a graphical upgrade and gameplay tweaks, while largely maintaining the original narrative and character arcs. Some updates will add nuance where appropriate, particularly with the character Yosuke, whose storyline has sparked discussions around gender and sexuality.

The Nintendo Direct didn’t provide much concrete information about Persona 6. The next installment in the series was officially teased back in July, featuring a trailer that showcased a graveyard filled with headstones and a headless statue at its center. The tone appears darker and more mature compared to recent entries, hinting at a potential return to the series’ roots. However, it’s worth noting that Persona 5’s reveal trailer also bore little resemblance to the final game we received.

As of now, Atlus has not released additional details about Persona 6, leaving fans in the dark regarding the protagonist, setting, or a release timeframe. It’s likely that Atlus will shift its focus to Persona 6 after the launch of Persona 4 Revival next year.

Atlus aims to make P4R “a bit more fitting for the world we live in now.”
