Persona 6 is confirmed to be in development, but details remain scarce.

This year’s Summer Game Fest was a treat for fans of Japanese RPGs. The event kicked off with the announcement of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy’s conclusion, and now we have exciting news about the return of the Persona series.

Atlus has confirmed that Persona 6 is in the works, sharing a brief teaser that hints at a darker tone for the game. While no release date or window has been provided, it will be available on PS5, Xbox, and PC upon its launch. Atlus describes the game as “a bold, new standalone story blending heartfelt daily life and new characters with pulse-pounding, supernatural adventure,” a fitting description for the series.

Persona 6 marks the first new entry in the franchise since 2017. However, Atlus has kept busy in the meantime, releasing an enhanced version of Persona 5, titled Persona 5 Royal, in 2022, and a remake of Persona 3. Additionally, longtime series director Katsura Hashino has been working on a different RPG, the fantasy epic Metaphor: ReFantazio, set to release in 2024.

Alongside Persona 6, Atlus also announced that Persona 4 Revival will be launching on February 18th.
