Phasmophobia Developers Unveil Exciting Plans for the Game’s Next Chapter
Kinetic Games, known for the popular horror title Phasmophobia, is expanding its horizons by launching a new publishing division called Kinetic Publishing. This initiative aims to provide independent developers with the kind of support that Daniel Knight, the solo creator of Phasmophobia, would have appreciated during the game’s early days.
Phasmophobia debuted in late 2020 and quickly became a sensation in the multiplayer horror genre. Fast forward nearly six years, and the game still enjoys a robust player community, having added 150,000 new Discord members in 2025 and seeing a total community growth of over 700,000, as reported in a recent announcement. The development team has expanded from Knight alone to a full crew, delivering multiple content updates since launch, with even more planned for 2026, including the highly anticipated 1.0 version.
Kinetic Publishing will be managed by a team of five senior staff members, including Knight himself. He expressed in a statement, “Our growth as a company puts us in a position to support studios that come under our wing.” Asim Tanvir, the director of marketing and partnerships at Kinetic Games and part of the new publishing team, emphasized their goal to be a supportive indie publisher that fosters creativity. He stated, “We hope the guidance and support we provide to indie teams will help them succeed in their endeavors and encourage innovation in the development space.”
Despite the potential for divided attention, especially with a Phasmophobia film in the pipeline, the development team will remain dedicated to the horror game as it continues to evolve. Kinetic Publishing plans to offer tailored support for the new titles it backs, focusing on a diverse range of genres while prioritizing smaller projects with a clear vision that are 12 to 18 months from release.
Developers seeking a publishing partner are invited to reach out through the Kinetic Games website.
