Players are thrilled with the new PC performance patch for Monster Hunter Wilds, declaring, “THEY DID IT!”

Monster Hunter Wilds has just rolled out a new patch for PC, and it seems like this one might finally hit the mark.

Capcom shared the details of the patch on the game’s Steam news page. They acknowledged a bug that caused performance to improve in base camp when players owned all the DLC, stating, “After receiving user reports, our internal testing confirmed that CPU load could increase around the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub,” and assured players that “This is an unintended bug and will be resolved with this update.”

The patch includes tweaks to texture streaming and the high-resolution texture pack to help reduce VRAM usage, along with a decrease in “shader warming processes performed outside the shader compilation screen to lower CPU load.” New options have also been added, featuring a CPU tab for adjusting settings related to CPU load, as well as new graphics settings and adjusted presets.

Looking ahead, Capcom has teased the next patch, scheduled for February 18, 2026. They mentioned, “we are currently verifying measures to reduce GPU processing load by adding quality levels (LOD) to the polygon mesh for 3D models. This may help to reduce processing load by swapping to low-resolution models for objects farther away from the camera.”

Despite last month’s update not impressing everyone, the reception for Monster Hunter Wilds Ver.1.040.03.01 has been largely positive.

One player shared their excitement, saying, “After getting it to work, this game runs like BUTTER! It’s impressive how much more fun this game can become once it can actually run with decent graphics! My graphics are on High, and for the first time ever, it was a steady 60 to 70 frames the entire hunt! THEY DID IT!”

Another fan chimed in, expressing gratitude for Capcom’s ongoing support: “I’m actually glad Capcom continues to give this game support in spite of everything.”

Recent Steam reviews reflect this sentiment, with one user noting, “The main problem with the game was poor performance, but the new update really improved it. Nearly doubled my fps from about 40 to 70.” Another player mentioned that the game is “actually playable on my Steam Deck now,” which is impressive considering even high-end PCs struggled with it earlier this year. With any luck, by the time the anticipated G Rank expansion arrives, performance issues will be a thing of the past.

Monster Hunter Wilds has sold 11 million copies, according to Capcom, but it’s just managing to stay on the best-seller list, overshadowed by titles like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.
