It took some time, but we finally have more details about the rewards for completing an expedition in Arc Raiders. Players can look forward to permanent extra stash slots, bonus skill points, temporary XP boosts, and a couple of cosmetics, including a unique outfit called “Patchwork.”
The catch? We still don’t have a clear picture of what the Patchwork outfit actually looks like. A user named Jiggy-Spice shared a fan mockup on the Arc Raiders subreddit, inspired by the name. While it received mixed reactions, I personally think it’s a cool design. It’s distinct, fits the game’s vibe, and isn’t overly flashy, which could be a tactical advantage in gameplay.
However, there are two main theories about the Patchwork outfit’s appearance, and one of them has stirred up quite a bit of controversy among players. Completing an expedition is a serious grind, requiring a massive investment of resources and hours of gameplay, so players are hoping the reward, even if purely cosmetic, will be worthwhile.
The first theory comes from Reddit user KnightRavedraw7, who points out that the outfit was spotted during the server slam, a pre-launch stress test for the multiplayer servers. It features patchwork elements on denim shorts and a light blue hoodie with pink lettering.
Responses to this theory include comments like, “I wouldn’t even wear this skin if they paid me to,” “Y’all wasted all that time and materials for jorts?!,” and a dramatic plea: “I’m begging you, please don’t do this to me, I will roll off a hill into a lake of lava and the screaming will never cease.” So, it seems some players have strong feelings about it!
The second theory suggests that the Patchwork outfit might be the one players use during the tutorial, as that skin doesn’t appear again. User Turtleomertlemade this suggestion, and it makes sense. Your raider leaves Speranza, never to return, so you’d be given a new raider who would theoretically come from the tutorial. The only issue is that this outfit doesn’t seem to match the “patchwork” theme.
Fans seem to prefer this idea: “Damn, you could be onto something with this,” says one reply, while others express enthusiasm with comments like, “I would love this skin!” and “I’d do the expedition once just for this skin.” One reply stands out: “No way, everyone would use this skin if that’s the case. It blends in too much with almost any terrain; there’s no color on it at all.”
Of course, this is all speculation, and we still don’t know exactly what the Patchwork outfit will look like.
