PlayStation Announces Upcoming State of Play Featuring In-Depth Look at Marvel’s Wolverine

The summer gaming season is just around the corner, and it seems PlayStation is set to kick things off. Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that a new State of Play showcase will take place on June 2, featuring an in-depth look at Insomniac Games’ highly anticipated superhero title, Marvel’s Wolverine.

This upcoming State of Play will be streamed on Tuesday, June 2, promising over 60 minutes packed with updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from leading studios worldwide, according to Tim Turi, the content communications manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

You can catch the next State of Play on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels at 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT / 11 p.m. CEST (or 6 a.m. JST on June 3 in Japan).

While Marvel’s Wolverine is confirmed for the showcase, Sony hasn’t yet announced any other PlayStation 5 titles that will be featured. However, SIE’s first-party studios have several projects in the pipeline, including a remake of the God of War trilogy from Santa Monica Studio, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Hunters Gathering. There are also whispers of a new God of War spinoff and a modern take on the Infamous franchise.

The last State of Play occurred in February and highlighted various third-party games such as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Beast of Reincarnation, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Silent Hill: Downfall, Project Windless, 4:Loop, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. While fans shouldn’t expect major updates on all these titles, there’s a solid chance of seeing some familiar faces or confirmed release dates.

As for third-party updates, gamers are still on the lookout for news from Sony’s close partners, including Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 4 and the third chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, along with Capcom’s new entries in the Onimusha and Mega Man franchises.

One thing we can likely rule out for this State of Play is the announcement of more single-player PC ports of first-party PlayStation 5 games. Sorry, PC players—no Marvel adventures for you this time!
