PlayStation unveils limited edition PS5 and controller featuring Marvel’s Wolverine.
In anticipation of the upcoming launch of Marvel’s Wolverine, Sony has unveiled a series of limited-edition console bundles and accessories inspired by Insomniac’s latest superhero adventure. These will hit the shelves on the same day as the game: September 15.
The latest themed bundle was showcased on the PlayStation Blog. The Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition bundle features a striking PS5 Digital Edition, decked out in the vibrant colors of Logan’s classic outfit, complete with a portrait of the character and a claw slash design, as if Wolverine himself had taken a swipe at your console. This bundle includes a game code and a DualSense controller that matches the console’s design. Priced at $649.99, it offers a unique twist on the standard digital PS5, which retails for $599.99. The controller can also be purchased separately for $84.99, with pre-orders starting on August 19 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
For those not looking to buy a whole new console, there’s good news. Sony will also offer PS5 and PS5 Pro compatible covers, including options for disc drive models. PS5 Pro owners can snag the exclusive Adamantium Limited Edition covers, which trade the yellow for a sleek silver finish, mimicking Wolverine’s metallic skeleton and claws. While these covers aim to give the impression of an Adamantium console, one might wonder how Wolverine would leave claw marks on it—perhaps I’m overthinking the merchandise. All covers will retail for $74.99.
To ensure your Adamantium-themed PS5 doesn’t clash with the yellow DualSense, Sony is releasing an Adamantium Limited Edition controller, featuring the same design as the yellow version but in silver. This controller will be available for $84.99. While this announcement adds to the excitement surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine, there has been notable backlash regarding Sony’s recent decision to cease physical disc production by 2028, with many expressing their concerns on social media about the shift towards a digital-only future.
