Pokémon Center Faces Data Breach, Leading to Order Cancellations
As noted by various sources, the Pokémon Center websites for the UK and Germany have alerted customers about a data breach linked to a third-party logistics provider, CEVA Logistics, which was compromised at the end of July. This breach not only impacted Valve customers in Europe but also those purchasing Pokémon merchandise. In a frustrating twist, the Pokémon Center has informed affected customers that their orders have been canceled.
In an email sent out about five days ago, the Pokémon Center stated, “We are sorry to inform you that we have had to cancel your recent order due to an unforeseen fulfillment issue.” This is an unusual way to address a hacking incident. The email goes on to explain, in a mix of American and British English, that a cyber incident involving CEVA Logistics, the shipping partner for Pokémon Center in the UK and Germany, began on July 30, 2026.
As a result of this incident, the Pokémon Center has had to cancel orders, acknowledging the disappointment this may cause, especially after customers have invested time in placing their orders.
The breach reportedly exposed sensitive information, including full names, delivery addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order details, leaving those affected vulnerable to phishing scams.
While it’s clear that The Pokémon Company needs to notify customers about the potential data breach, the decision to cancel orders is puzzling. Many customers are now finding that items they had ordered are out of stock or won’t arrive in time for special occasions.
Some customers have found the Pokémon Center’s support to be less than helpful. One individual whose order was canceled reached out to inquire whether it was safe to reorder, only to receive a response that acknowledged their concerns but failed to address their question. The support team stated, “Pokémon Center Support does not have any further information to share on this topic,” before closing the ticket.
We’ve reached out to The Pokémon Company for clarification on the cancellations and guidance for affected customers. This situation is compounded by the current high demand on the Pokémon Center websites, which are experiencing long wait times and frequently sell out of new products within minutes. With the upcoming release of the 30th Anniversary set, demand is expected to surge even further.
