Pokémon Company Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Office Bathroom Camera Incident

In January, former Pokémon Company engineering director Ben Tsai was arrested for reportedly installing cameras in the restrooms of the company’s Bellevue office and several local stores. Now, employees of the Pokémon Company are taking legal action with a class action lawsuit.

A woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe has initiated the lawsuit, asserting that the Pokémon Company failed to adequately protect its employees and visitors from Tsai’s actions due to poor oversight and a lack of response to warning signs regarding his alleged misconduct. She claims to have been employed by the Pokémon Company for five years and aims to represent anyone who visited the office and used the restrooms from 2017 to July 2026.

Authorities have reported discovering “hundreds” of videos recorded inside the Pokémon office bathroom, along with footage from a local Starbucks and Tsai’s residence. The Pokémon Company issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to employee well-being but refrained from commenting on the ongoing litigation.

Last month, Tsai faced charges including “first-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, first-degree possession of those depictions, first-degree voyeurism, and second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.” Tsai’s attorney, Bradley G. Barshis, stated that Tsai intends to plead not guilty to all charges, maintaining his presumption of innocence, and indicated that no further comments would be made unless circumstances change.

An earlier report mentioned that Tsai allegedly expressed curiosity about transgender individuals and denied any attraction to children.
