Pokémon Pokopia’s Latest Free Update Introduces Winds and Waves Features
We won’t be diving into Pokémon WindsandWaves until sometime in 2027, but fans of Pokémon Pokopia can look forward to a similar underwater adventure much sooner. During a recent Nintendo Direct showcase, it was announced that this charming life simulation game will receive a free DLC that takes players beneath the waves.
With the new Dive move, Ditto will be able to interact with a variety of aquatic Pokémon in Pokopia. The trailer highlights Ditto crafting homes for Pokémon like Vaporeon, Magikarp, and Poliwag. Before this update, players had to get creative to simulate underwater environments. The Pokopia update is set to launch in August 2026, introducing a plethora of new water-themed decorations.
What’s particularly intriguing is that this concept aligns with the core theme of Pokémon WindsandWaves, which emphasizes ocean exploration and underwater landscapes.
In addition to the free DLC, an expansion pass for the Pokémon building game was also revealed. This pass will introduce a new town, fresh furniture, additional outfits, and new Pokémon like Popplio and Mudkip. The first segment of the paid DLC, titled Bubbly Basin, is available now, while the parts of the expansion that promise new features and areas will roll out in late 2026 and 2027.
To access Bubbly Basin, players must complete the “Raise the environment level” quest in Bleak Beach and download a new software update.
While Nintendo has shifted focus to the Switch 2, it continues to address lingering issues from its previous hardware.
