Pokémon TCG Pocket Unveils Major Update to Tackle Player Feedback
If you’ve dived into the mobile game Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, you might have noticed a couple of significant pain points: the user interface can feel sluggish, and the frequency of new card releases can be downright overwhelming. Fortunately, it looks like the development team is addressing at least one of these concerns.
The Pokémon TCG Pocket Operations Team has shared some exciting updates and enhancements planned for the game’s second anniversary. The most notable change is the adjustment of the card release schedule to every six weeks instead of the previous monthly cadence.
While fewer releases might sound like a drawback, the rapid-fire schedule has left many players feeling swamped. Whether you’re on a quest to collect every card or trying to keep pace with the competitive scene, staying current with the release cycle has demanded almost obsessive attention. This new six-week release rhythm will kick off with the upcoming C series of card sets.
In addition to the revamped release schedule, the Operations Team has promised a host of other improvements. Alongside the new set-release timeline, there will be an expansion of missions and events that align with pack launches. Players can look forward to immersive cards featuring animated scenes, which can be earned by completing collections and missions. There will also be missions that allow players to unlock one-star promo cards showcasing unique artwork. Another exciting addition is the introduction of “Special Packs,” which can be opened using stamina that replenishes weekly. The first of these special packs, First Partners, will highlight the starter Pokémon from each of the nine regions featured in past games.
On the deck-building front, TCG Pocket is introducing a Community Decks feature, making it easier for players to browse and replicate decks created by others. The developers are also working to enhance the functionality of rental and starter decks, allowing for unlimited uses and access in versus play. One of the most intriguing new features is Limited Battles, a competitive event type with a restricted card pool, where players can earn accessories as rewards.
Lastly, the team is set to improve trading and sharing mechanics. A new feature will simplify the process of checking which cards a potential trading partner still needs.
With this extensive list of changes, the developers are likely aiming to reverse the trend of declining player numbers in TCG Pocket. Recent financial reports indicate that the game averaged around 23 million monthly active users between April and June 2026, marking a 41% decrease from the same timeframe the previous year. Other recent updates have included a set that guarantees rare cards and the introduction of dual-typing. Here’s hoping that enhancing the app’s overall responsiveness and user interface is next on the agenda, as the current setup can make completing daily missions feel like a slog.
Despite these challenges, the mobile card game continues to be a significant player in the market, though its audience and revenue are on the decline.
