Pokémon TCG Pocket: We Need the Option to Open Multiple Packs at Once!

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is currently hosting one of its Drop Events, a limited-time opportunity for players to snag some new promo cards. This week’s highlight is the Mega Medicham ex card. While these events are a staple of the card-collecting experience, they also bring to light a recurring frustration among players: why must we open all these promo packs individually?

During Drop Events, players face off against a computer-controlled opponent using a deck centered around the new promo cards. Successfully completing these battles rewards players with single-card booster packs, each containing a card from the event’s lineup. This time around, players can collect five special cards: Mudkip, Plusle, Ralts, Tornadus, and Mega Medicham ex. It’s essential to gather as many packs as possible to ensure you get all five cards before the event wraps up.

So, what’s the catch? It’s a minor annoyance, but it adds up. When you receive a promo pack, it goes directly to your gifts screen, and you have to open each one individually. If you’ve accumulated five or six packs, you’re stuck opening them one at a time, as there’s no option to open them all at once.

This issue has been a sore spot for the TCG Pocket community for quite a while. A Reddit post from January titled “This is the worst part of every solo event for me” highlighted this frustration with a meme, garnering 4.7k upvotes and comments like, “It’s a feature coming in 2033; you need to be patient since they’re a small indie company.”

While it may seem like a trivial complaint, it reflects a broader concern within the mobile game’s community. Despite frequent updates and a steady influx of new cards in its first year, basic quality-of-life improvements have been slow to arrive. Players have been eagerly requesting features like dark mode, universal pack points, and the ability to skip animations since the game launched. There are several straightforward requests that seem easy for the developers to implement, yet updates feel sparse compared to the regular flow of new packs and events.

And here we are again at another Drop Event, with fans left to open their packs one by one. Will TCG Pocket ever introduce a Claim All option? Will it at least make the pack opening animation skippable? Or, even better, will it allow players to simply receive their cards without the hassle of opening a pack? Only time will tell, but we’ll likely be waiting through several more Drop Events to find out.
