Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Upcoming Expansion, Ruler of the Skies, Introduces Mega Rayquaza and Beloved Characters

After teasing its July launch, The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Titled Ruler of the Skies, this update promises to be a significant one, introducing Mega Rayquaza ex along with a host of other impressive Mega Evolution cards.

While Pokémon TCG Pocket typically rolls out a new expansion at the end of each month, not every release features exciting Legendary Pokémon. However, Ruler of the Skies is certainly an exception, with Mega Rayquaza ex taking center stage alongside the visually striking Mega Gallade ex and Mega Metagross ex.

The expansion also includes cards like Psyduck (who has a rather unfortunate Migraine attack), Genesect, and Absol. Players can look forward to two Supporter cards, Skyla and Wally, as well as the Rainbow Cave stadium.

Ruler of the Skies introduces some fresh gameplay features as well. Players can now share their decks using 2D pattern codes, and any cards obtained from multiple booster packs will be registered across all those packs. Additionally, if certain conditions are met when opening a booster pack, the next pack from this expansion will guarantee a four-diamond card or higher, although the specific conditions remain unspecified.

More missions and events are on the horizon too. From late July to late October, players can engage in elite deck gift missions to earn a Fighting-type deck featuring Mega Lucario ex and Hitmonchan ex. The first half of August will showcase Ruler of the Skies Emblem Events, where players can test their skills against one another.

Ruler of the Skies will launch in Pokémon TCG Pocket on July 29 at 9 p.m. EDT.
