Pokémon Teams Up with IKEA to Transform Pikachu and Snorlax into Flatpack Designs

A collaboration between Pokémon and IKEA kicks off on April 1, and it’s no April Fool’s prank. The furniture giant has shared an in-depth look at the event on its official site, celebrating 20 years in Japan with Pokémon-themed rooms featuring actual IKEA furniture on display in select stores.

Unfortunately, these stores are exclusively in Japan, making it a bit of a challenge for anyone outside the country to experience the event from April 1 to May 10. However, you can still draw some design inspiration for your own space, like the navy-and-white striped bed designed to resemble Snorlax and a charming little yellow sofa.

In addition, you can explore IKEA’s Pokopia rooms within the game using a special code that grants access to the event’s unique Cloud Island. This code is reportedly only available to those who visit the physical stores, but it’s likely that it will eventually surface online for everyone to use.

The Cloud Island features a room themed around Pikachu, complete with a Pikachu couch, stylish shelving, and some cute mushroom-themed cushions for Pikachu and friends to relax on. There’s also a room dedicated to Snorlax, showcasing a blue and white-striped bed that might be a tad small for him. It pairs nicely with a vibrant cobalt lamp and a table filled with food. A large decorative shelf runs the length of the room, though I bet Snorlax would prefer the real-life IKEA version, which is packed with cubbies perfect for snack storage. The in-game version, however, is filled with books and plants—nice, but not ideal for a second breakfast.

If the IKEA x Pokopia collaboration has sparked your creativity and you’re looking for more decorating ideas, there are plenty of impressive Pokopia builds out there to inspire you.
