Project Hail Mary Blu-ray Release Date Announced

One of the most buzzed-about films of the year is set to hit home video this summer. Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment have announced that *Project Hail Mary* will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting August 11.

The physical release will feature five deleted scenes, commentary from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and a special featurette titled “Earth’s Favorite Eridian.” It’s currently listed at $27.96.

To kick off the holiday season, Amazon will also release a second physical edition on October 13. This 3-disc SteelBook gift set will include extra features, a collectible booklet, and more, priced at $49.99. Pre-orders are available for both the August 11 and October 13 editions.

Currently, the film is streaming exclusively on MGM Plus, which raises some eyebrows—who’s even subscribed to that? It’s expected to land on Prime Video later, and possibly even on Netflix, given their past collaborations.

*Project Hail Mary* has quickly become one of the year’s standout films, ranking third in the 2026 box office for both global and domestic earnings. It has garnered rave reviews from both critics and audiences, boasting a 94% critic score and a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, thanks to its expansive narrative, stellar performances, and a refreshing dose of sci-fi optimism.

The plot centers around Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a middle school teacher who finds himself involved in a mission that could save Earth, taking him to the far reaches of space. And yes, there’s an alien puppet rock creature that steals the show.

This film marks the second successful adaptation of an Andy Weir novel, following 2015’s *The Martian*. Additionally, a film adaptation of Weir’s *Artemis* has been stuck in development limbo, but directors Lord and Miller have expressed their commitment to bringing that project to life as well.
