Rayman Legends Retold Postponed Just Weeks Before Launch
This fall is shaping up to be one of the most action-packed seasons for game releases in recent memory. While Grand Theft Auto 6 is stealing the spotlight, it’s not the only title on the horizon. Among the many games set to launch in the coming months, Ubisoft is bringing us Rayman Legends Retold, a remake of the beloved 2013 classic. However, there’s been a delay.
The silver lining is that Rayman Legends Retold is still on track for a 2026 release, unlike several other titles pushed back to 2027. Ubisoft announced a new release date of December 3, which is two months later than the original October 1 date that was just around the corner. The development team shared that, “While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.”
To help ease the wait, a new game overview trailer is set to drop on September 22, alongside a fresh wave of hands-on impressions from various creators and press.
Even though the original Rayman Legends is over a decade old, it remains the latest console entry in the series and is still widely accessible. Ubisoft opted to remake it for a few reasons. Brand manager Loïc Gounon mentioned that the team aimed to create something relatively quick yet high-quality, appealing to both longtime fans and newcomers alike. “That’s why it led us naturally to Legends, because of how complete it is as a game,” he explained.
Gounon also pointed out the intention to address and improve some issues from the original release. As a result, the game has been significantly reimagined, with a new final world added to provide Rayman Legends Retold with a more impactful conclusion. With the extra two months, the team hopes to fully realize their vision.
Ubisoft has stated that Rayman Legends Retold will usher in a ‘new era’ for the series.
