Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition surfaces with an outrageous price point
A Microsoft Store page for Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition appeared ahead of schedule, confirming that a re-release of the beloved Ubisoft platformer is on the way. Rest assured, it won’t be priced at $1,999.99 when it officially launches.
Wario64 caught the early listing for the game on May 29. Although the page has since been removed, it indicated that Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition is an upgraded version of the 2011 classic, featuring unspecified “quality-of-life improvements” alongside enhancements like 4K resolution and 60 FPS. Given that Rayman Origins’ online features have been inactive for years, it’s exciting to see an updated version coming to current-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X.
The main reason this leak gained so much attention was the outrageous $1,999.99 price tag. Clearly, this was a placeholder and not a realistic price for a remaster of a game that’s over 14 years old. Still, it’s amusing to see such a high figure listed, especially as gaming hardware prices continue to rise and speculation about the cost of upcoming titles like GTA 6 swirls.
While we know that $30 a month was too steep for Xbox Game Pass, it raises the question: what price for an individual game will gamers find unacceptable? It’s safe to say that $1,999.99 is far beyond that threshold, but it’s a thought-provoking topic as game and hardware prices keep climbing.
For now, we’ll have to wait for Ubisoft to officially announce and release Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. Here’s hoping it’s sooner rather than later, especially since we had to wait seven months for more details on Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition after a similar leak.
