Razer’s 25-Year-Old Gaming Mouse Makes a Comeback with a Price Tag of $1,337

Nostalgia is coming with a hefty price tag. Razer recently announced the return of the iconic gaming mouse, the Razer Boomslang, in a 20th Anniversary Edition, but details on its cost and release date were initially kept under wraps. Preorders will kick off on February 10th at 8 AM PT for US gamers, while those in Europe can start ordering on February 11th at 8 AM CET, and in Asia, it will be available on February 11th at 8 AM SGT. This limited production run will consist of just 1,337 units, each priced at $1,337, which might make them a tough sell.

The original Kärna Razer Boomslang debuted long before gaming peripherals became mainstream. It set itself apart with an advanced encoding wheel that provided superior tracking accuracy, giving players a potential edge in competitive play.

The 20th Anniversary Edition modernizes the classic design with a cutting-edge 45,000 DPI optical sensor. While it retains the original’s symmetrical ambidextrous shape, this new iteration is wireless, boasts an impressive 8,000Hz polling rate, and comes with a Razer Mouse Dock Pro for wireless charging. Additionally, it features 9-zone customizable RGB lighting on the underside, which can sync with over 300 games—a hallmark of the Razer brand.

Razer is also including an LED display frame that showcases a deconstructed view of the mouse’s internal components. Back in the day, the Kärna Razer Boomslang was priced between $69.99 and $99.99, making the new version’s $1,337 price tag a significant leap, but the added features aim to justify the cost.
