Red Dead Redemption 2’s Enigmatic Puzzle Teeters on the Edge of Discovery
Red Dead Redemption 2’s latest mystery puzzle has players scratching their heads, and many are turning to Rockstar for answers.
Recently, members of the Red Dead Mysteries subreddit stumbled upon a peculiar series of spider webs scattered throughout the game, sparking an adventurous hunt across the expansive map of the fictional 19th-century American frontier. The trail eventually led to Fort Wallace, where a couple of guitars hinted at something on the fort’s rooftop.
As players continued their investigation, sharp-eyed fans discovered birds carved into the roof’s shingles, which pointed them to a flock of real birds in the northern part of the map, specifically in Calumet Ravine. However, these birds take flight as players approach. A YouTuber known as The Strange Man highlighted that if players use binoculars to scan the mountains across from the ravine, they can spot a massive question mark seemingly etched into the mountain.
Unfortunately, the mountain is out of bounds, making it inaccessible by horseback or on foot. It’s possible that players need to perform a specific action near the mountains to unlock the next clue or explore nearby areas. There’s also a chance that the next clue hasn’t been added to the game yet, prompting fans to seek help from Rockstar.
What’s particularly intriguing are the initial clues that kicked off this Easter egg hunt: eight spiderwebs containing feathers. Five of the webs feature black feathers, while three have red feathers, leading some players to speculate that the Easter egg might be linked to Eagle Flies, an NPC involved in eight missions. In five of those missions, he remains unharmed, which players connect to the five black feathers. In the last three missions, he is kidnapped, imprisoned, and ultimately killed, corresponding to the three red feathers. Notably, the clue that leads to the question mark on the mountain involves tracking birds that fly away upon arrival, possibly referencing Eagle Flies’ name. Additionally, Calumet Ravine is part of the Wapiti Native American reservation, and Eagle Flies is a member of the Wapiti tribe.
It’s evident that whatever is happening is tied to Eagle Flies in some way. The burning question is how this Easter egg might connect to Grand Theft Auto 6. While there’s no certainty that it relates to the upcoming title, considering that GTA 6 is Rockstar’s next project—and that Grand Theft Auto 5 also features a notable spider web and mountain-related Easter egg—it seems plausible that the events in Red Dead Redemption 2 are linked to Rockstar’s future game.
Here’s hoping this puzzle gets solved soon!
