Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Emphasizes Action Over Stealth

The next chapter in the Plague Tale saga is just around the corner. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a prequel set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, is set to launch on August 27 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

This installment features Sophia, a pirate smuggler who also makes an appearance in the second game. Her journey takes her to Minotaur Island, where she seeks to break a curse. Players will guide Sophia through ancient ruins that allow her to traverse between the distant past of the Minoan civilization and the present day. For those who might not be well-versed in Bronze Age history, the Minoan civilization thrived on the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean.

One of the most striking changes in Resonance compared to earlier titles in the series is its shift towards a more action-oriented gameplay style. Sophia wields a sword and is ready to engage in combat. The latest trailer showcases her slicing through rival raiders and gladiators with flair.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy marks the third entry in the series, which revolves around the harrowing spread of the black plague. The original game, released in 2019, is set in 14th-century France and follows Amicia de Rune as she navigates through swarms of infected rats and hostile soldiers. Its sequel, Requiem, continues the story of Amicia and her brother.

The series has garnered positive reviews and impressive sales, with the first game surpassing 1 million copies sold, while the sequel exceeded 3 million. Developed by Asobo Studio, the team is back for this latest adventure. It will be intriguing to see if Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy can achieve similar success with its fresh gameplay mechanics and new setting.
