Revive the Classic Xbox with a 3,509-Piece Lego-Style Build Set
The original Xbox is set to make a comeback in a unique way. A new kit has been unveiled that offers a 1:1 scale replica of the classic console. This Microsoft Xbox Building Toy Kit from Mattel Brick Shop includes 3,509 pieces, featuring the console, the iconic oversized Duke controller, and several themed game dioramas. This release celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox.
The dioramas are inspired by three legendary Xbox titles: Halo: Combat Evolved, Psychonauts, and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Each diorama is integrated into the Xbox, with components that slide out to showcase scenes like Master Chief battling the Flood. The Duke controller is interactive, activating lights and sound effects for each diorama, while opening the console triggers the classic Xbox boot sound.
This impressive building kit is priced at $324.99 and is scheduled for release on October 1, 2026.

Interestingly, one of the studios behind the referenced games is no longer part of Microsoft. Following significant layoffs affecting over 3,000 employees, Double Fine, the studio responsible for Psychonauts, was cut. After becoming independent, Double Fine laid off 23 employees, which was about a quarter of its workforce.
In recent years, Lego has collaborated with Nintendo to create kits based on its hardware, including sets for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Donkey Kong arcade cabinet. They’ve also released crossover sets for franchises like Mario, Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda.
Microsoft appears to be following a similar path with Mattel, launching a Halo toy line and an upcoming Warthog-themed Brick Shop set. The console wars continue, but now they’re taking shape in a new arena.
