Rhotta The Hutt: The Must-Have Halloween Costume for This Year
“Do you know how tough it is to carve your own path when your dad is Jabba the Hutt, and you’ve got human arms sprouting from your alien armpits?” – Rhotta the Hutt
While I enjoyed Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, the film didn’t exactly break the bank for Lucasfilm. Disney’s merchandising team, however, has to jump into action months before a movie hits theaters, crafting toys, apparel, and other goodies without any clue how fans will respond to new characters. After missing out on a goldmine by not having Baby Yoda merch ready for his surprise debut, it’s safe to say Disney won’t let that happen again with any future Star Wars sensations.
And that brings us to the bizarre Rhotta the Hutt inflatable Halloween costume, which you can snag from Spirit for just $75. That’s a steal compared to the price of Grand Theft Auto 6!
I have so many questions about this Rhotta getup. Why did the designers choose to give the suit legs that mimic Rhotta’s skin texture? It looks like Rhotta has tiny legs, which I don’t recall from the show. Time for a rewatch. (Rewatches Mando and Grogu) Nope, no legs. I guess I could have just checked a trailer instead…
Another thing: those hands sticking out of the armpits. Wait, that’s not a question. Let me rephrase. Ahem. Why? Who looked at that design and thought, “Nailed it!” If anything, Rhotta’s costume should have gloves that match his skin texture to blend in. Or maybe some flaps above the hand holes to cover your hands when they’re not in use.
And one last thing: who wrote the description for this costume, suggesting that someone might call Rhotta their “favorite character from The Mandalorian?” Sure, some die-hard Star Wars fans might appreciate his oddity, but how many teens or kids are eager to dress up as Rhotta the Hutt this Halloween? Plus, he’s from The Mandalorian and Grogu. Come on, Spirit Halloween, I expect… well, actually, this is about the quality I anticipated. Carry on.
My one big regret is that this costume came out after Burger King stopped offering the Mando-themed Bounty Hunter meal. I wish I could have donned this outfit, strutted into my local Burger King, and ordered that meal. Alas, dreams of reality are just memories of better times.
Anyway, I’ve run out of questions about this costume and don’t have a third image to share, so I guess I’ll wrap it up here… Seems like a good spot. Have a great weekend!
