Prime Video’s adaptation of God of War is expanding its cast, with rising star Callum Vinson stepping into the pivotal role of Atreus. Vinson gained recognition for his standout performance in Poker Face as a troubled elementary school student wrongfully accused of a class pet’s murder.

Vinson is on a roll with high-profile roles, including a young Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake, and he’ll also appear in season 3 of Netflix’s The Night Agent. Now, he joins the highly anticipated God of War series, which is expected to follow many events from God of War: Ragnarok.

Alongside Kratos actor Ryan Hurst, the cast features Max Parker as Heimdall, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok. Ronald D. Moore, known for Battlestar Galactica, is the showrunner, with the first two episodes directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, who has worked on Shōgun, The Boys, and Fallout.

Prime Video describes Atreus as follows: “Atreus, the ten-year-old son of Kratos, grew up in a secluded forest cabin, isolated from the outside world and primarily raised by his mother, Faye. He is a skilled archer with a love for animals and a deep curiosity about what lies beyond his forest home. Following his mother’s death, Atreus is left with a distant father he barely knows, who knows little about him in return. Despite this, Atreus seeks his father’s approval and is determined to prove his strength in a harsh and unforgiving world.”

As of now, Prime Video has not announced a premiere date for the God of War series. In the meantime, you can explore the best shows available on Prime Video right now.
