Robin’s DC Movie Delayed, Unveils Star-Studded Cast
Warner Bros. has shared some mixed news about *Dynamic Duo*, the upcoming animated film centered on Robin. The downside is that the release has been pushed back slightly, but the upside is that the main cast has been announced, featuring some notable talent like Steve Buscemi.
The film’s release date has shifted from June 30, 2028, to September 22, 2028. While delays are never ideal, this one isn’t too severe. The change is reportedly due to two main factors: Warner Bros. aims to market the film as a back-to-school feature targeting teens and college students, and they want to avoid competition with the *Call of Duty* movie, which is set to debut on the original date. Additionally, the next *Gremlins* film has also been delayed into 2028.
On the brighter side, casting news has emerged. Mason Thames (from *How to Train Your Dragon*) will voice Dick Grayson, Logan Kim (from *Ghostbusters: Afterlife*) will portray Jason Todd, Marsai Martin (from *G20*) will take on the role of Barbara Gordon, Lee Pace (from *Pushing Daisies* and *Guardians of the Galaxy*) will voice Red Hood 1, and Steve Buscemi (from *Fargo* and *Reservoir Dogs*) will voice Red Hood 2. Additionally, Chris Pine has reportedly been offered the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
James Gunn, the mastermind behind the new DC Universe, has clarified that *Dynamic Duo* will not be part of his canon. Instead, it will be classified as an Elseworlds story, indicating it stands alone. The future of Batman within the DCU remains uncertain, especially with no plans to incorporate Robert Pattinson’s version into Gunn’s vision. Gunn is set to introduce his take on Batman in *The Brave and the Bold*, though details on that project are still under wraps.
*Dynamic Duo* will explore the origins of Dick Grayson, the first Robin, and Jason Todd, the second to don the mantle. Directed by Arthur Mintz and written by Matthew Aldrich (*Coco*, *Lightyear*), the film will utilize a unique blend of miniatures, puppetry, animatronics, models, and CGI instead of traditional animation.
