Rumored Title for Black Panther 3: Shadows of Wakanda, Filming Set to Begin in June

After a long period of silence, Black Panther 3 is finally making waves, with production set to kick off soon for this Marvel Phase 6 installment.

A recent update from the Film and Television Industry Alliance reveals that filming for Black Panther 3 is scheduled to begin in London on June 15, 2026. While an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, the start of production suggests that details about when this Marvel adventure will hit theaters are on the horizon.

The upcoming sequel will be titled “Shadows of Wakanda,” and it promises to delve into Wakanda’s struggles following T’Challa’s death, with Shuri stepping up as both a warrior and a leader. This confirms that Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri.

Hints about Shuri taking the lead in this sequel have been circulating since the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where she embraced the mantle of the Black Panther after the loss of her brother and mother. The new storyline also implies that Shuri will survive the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, set to release this December, and Avengers: Secret Wars, which is slated for the following year, assuming Black Panther 3 occurs after Avengers 6.

In related news, F1 star Damson Idris recently addressed speculation about him potentially stepping into the role of Black Panther. In an interview, he expressed gratitude to fans, stating, “Of course, it’s rumors, but I love that movie. I love the world.” While Shuri is at the forefront this time, there’s a possibility we could see Idris join the franchise later, possibly as an older version of T’Challa’s son introduced in the Black Panther 2 post-credits scene.

Currently, the only confirmed cast member is Denzel Washington, who will portray a new character created specifically for him by director Ryan Coogler. We anticipate the return of Danai Gurira as Okoye, along with Michaela Coel’s Aneka and Florence Kasumba’s Ayo. If he survives Doomsday, Winston Duke is also likely to reprise his role as Mbaku.
