Sabrina Carpenter Joins Tom Holland in Upcoming Spider-Man Film

Following the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, Tom Holland is gearing up for his next project: a biopic about the legendary Fred Astaire. Excitingly, he will be joined by Sabrina Carpenter and Margaret Qualley in this film.

For those who may not know, Fred Astaire was a renowned dancer and a star of both stage and screen, famous for his roles in classic musicals like Top Hat, Swing Time, and The Band Wagon. With Holland’s background in dance and theater, he has been eager to bring this biopic to life for quite some time. Now, after two major hits, he’s finally moving forward with the project under the direction of Paul King, known for his work on Wonka and the beloved Paddington trilogy.

On September 25, it was reported that Carpenter and Qualley have officially joined the cast. Carpenter will take on the role of actress Ginger Rogers, while Qualley will portray Fred’s sister, Adele Astaire. King expressed his enthusiasm about the casting, stating, “The cinematic challenge of bringing to life these icons of the twentieth century is one that I could not imagine without Tom Holland, Margaret Qualley, and Sabrina Carpenter by my side.”

While Carpenter’s casting might come as a surprise given her current status as a major pop star, she has a solid acting background with roles in Girl Meets World, Milo Murphy’s Law, and Tall Girl. Qualley, on the other hand, is recognized for her performances in films like The Substance and her role in the video game Death Stranding.

Although it may be a stretch to expect this Fred Astaire biopic to achieve the same box office success as The Odyssey or Spider-Man: Brand New Day, this year has shown that audiences are hungry for musical biopics.
