The latest Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is based on George R.R. Martin’s novellas that follow the adventures of the hedge knight Dunk and his squire Egg.

However, with only three novellas available and the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms already in production, the show may soon run out of source material.

“Given how Game of Thrones wrapped up, some fans are understandably concerned about the limited number of D&E books,” one fan asked showrunner Ira Parker during a Reddit AMA.

“Can you ease those concerns and share any rough plans for what comes after season 3?”

Parker responded, “In many ways, we have a clearer picture of what happens after these three novellas due to all the supporting material (I like how I referred to A Song of Ice and Fire as supporting material for Dunk and Egg 😉 ), so there’s less inherent risk… not none, just less…” He added, “Anything beyond book 3 (if we’re fortunate enough) would heavily involve George.”

Parker previously mentioned that Martin has provided “about 10 to 12 more outlines for books and novellas, chronicling Dunk and Egg throughout their lives,” so fans can feel reassured that their journey is in good hands.

During the same AMA, Parker also acknowledged making two mistakes in the show, including the unintentional omission of a significant line from the novella.
