Silent Hill Remake to Include Free DLC in Celebration of the Classic Horror Franchise
Konami’s Silent Hill f captured the hearts of gamers when it launched last September. It received critical acclaim, with reviews highlighting its stunning art, compelling characters, and engaging story, and it snagged numerous awards at various gaming events, especially at The Horror Game Awards. It has quickly established itself as a standout title in the Silent Hill series.
Now, ten months later, a fresh DLC for Silent Hill f has dropped, merging the latest installment with a remake of one of the most chilling Japanese horror games ever: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Originally released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2, this classic is fondly remembered for its innovative camera mechanic used to combat ghosts, a feature that returned from its predecessor. In March 2026, Koei Tecmo launched a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox, titled Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
Back in late January, Koei Tecmo revealed its collaboration with Konami and Square Enix to introduce free in-game costumes for both Silent Hill f and Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse. However, specifics about the costumes were kept under wraps until now.
Fans of Fatal Frame will instantly recognize the costume as a pink schoolgirl outfit worn by Mio Amakura, the main character of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Similar to Silent Hill f’s protagonist, Hinako Shimizu, Mio must battle for her life against ghostly foes, though she has her sister Mayu by her side for support.
Silent Hill f follows Hinako, a high school student in the fictional Japanese village of Ebusigaoka during the 1960s. Once a bustling mining town, Ebusigaoka is now largely deserted, and its decay mirrors Hinako’s own struggles. Despite being surrounded by friends, she feels like an outcast due to her social status. Yet, it is Hinako who must confront the terrifying events that unfold when a mysterious fog envelops Ebusigaoka.
If you’re a fan of both Fatal Frame II and Silent Hill f, make sure to grab the free cosmetic download, now available on Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
