Silent Hill Set to Become an Annual Franchise by Konami
If you enjoyed the recent remake of Silent Hill 2 and this year’s Silent Hill f, you’re in for a treat. Konami is gearing up to keep the survival horror vibes alive, aiming to release at least one new game in the series each year. What could possibly go wrong with an annual franchise, right?
In a recent chat, Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto shared insights about the franchise’s revival, stating that after two successful titles in the past couple of years, Silent Hill is “back on track.” It looks like we can expect to revisit the eerie streets of Silent Hill annually, provided everything goes smoothly.
“Counting both announced and unannounced Silent Hill games, we’re targeting a release pace of about one title per year,” Okamoto mentioned. “I can’t guarantee how much of that will come to fruition, but I’m committed to doing my best as the producer of the Silent Hill series. Our goal is to keep the excitement around Silent Hill alive at all times. We’re working hard to provide new updates, so I appreciate your patience.”
Before the fantastic Silent Hill 2 remake launched in October 2024, the franchise had seen better days, with a sparse release schedule and a few lackluster entries. Remember 2023’s Silent Hill Accession? That interactive livestream was a bit of a letdown. The last notable game before that was 2012’s Downpour, which left much to be desired and effectively put the series on hold for a decade.
Now, in 2025, with two solid games under its belt, Silent Hill is in a promising position. While the idea of an annual release does raise some concerns, the direction shown by Silent Hill 2 and f suggests a potential for success. If different studios are allowed to explore the franchise’s legacy while also innovating, we could be entering a golden era for Silent Hill games. Konami seems to be on board with this vision, as a remake of Silent Hill 1 is in the works alongside a mysterious project called Townfall. Or, who knows, the series could veer off course again.
