Silent Hill: Townfall’s toughest boss is set for a nerf.
Just about a week after the launch of Silent Hill: Townfall, developer Screen Burn has rolled out a patch aimed at tackling some of the initial technical issues players have encountered in this chilling horror experience. Even more thrilling is the announcement that a fix is on the way for one of the game’s most frustrating elements. Take a deep breath, because The Weight is finally getting a nerf.
If you’ve been diving into Townfall, you know that The Weight has likely been a major source of frustration. This creature relentlessly haunts protagonist Simon Ordell throughout the eerie streets of St. Amelia, and it feels nearly invincible. [Warning: slight spoilers ahead.] The Weight serves as Townfall’s climactic final boss, and the current encounter is nothing short of a nightmare. It absorbs damage like a sponge, and the sporadic appearance of regular enemies during the battle only adds to the exhaustion.
The developer announced Patch 1.3.1 in a post on X, which aims to improve stuttering issues on PC. Screen Burn also mentioned, “We’ve heard you on struggles with The Weight — gameplay balancing on its way asap.” (Let’s overlook the typo and just appreciate that a fix is on the horizon.) While there’s no specific release date for the update yet, we can hope it arrives soon.
In late 2025, following the successful launch of Silent Hill f, Konami shared its plan to release one title per year in the series. Producer Motoi Okamoto stated that “we’d like to keep the buzz around Silent Hill constant,” although he acknowledged, “we’re not sure how far we can achieve this.”
Next up is Bloober Team’s remake of the original Silent Hill, following their remake of Silent Hill 2 in 2024. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s reasonable to expect it to drop next year. Konami’s strategy includes licensing Silent Hill to external studios, as seen with Silent Hill: Townfall. Beyond the remake, there’s no official word on what else Konami has planned for the franchise.
Silent Hill has always been more than just one town.
