Siri Isn’t Designed to Be Your AI Girlfriend
Our initial tests reveal that Siri AI has a knack for knowing when to hold back, and this is intentional. In a recent chat, Craig Federighi shared insights about Apple’s revamped Siri, highlighting that it won’t be overly eager like some chatbots from other companies.
Federighi, who oversees software at Apple, noted, “Many existing chatbots are heavily focused on engagement. They tend to be a bit too flattering, trying to draw you in. They might prompt you to share personal details, using that to create a connection.”
Apple has chosen a different path for its AI assistant. “We see it quite differently,” Federighi explained. “Siri is designed to say, ‘Hey, that’s not my role. I’m here to assist you. I can help you accomplish tasks and learn about the world.’ But if you try to engage Siri in a romantic way, that’s not happening. Siri is definitely not into that.”
The discussion, which also featured marketing chief Greg Joswiak, touched on various topics, including privacy and Apple’s new child safety measures.
