Siri’s New Update Will Introduce Auto-Deleting Chat Features
Apple aims to leverage its strong privacy reputation as a key advantage in the AI landscape, potentially easing concerns as it works to catch up with competitors. According to insights from an industry expert, the upcoming version of Siri in iOS 27 will feature a chatbot-like experience that allows users to manage their chat histories with options to auto-delete after 30 days, one year, or indefinitely. This approach stands in stark contrast to other major AI players, which typically provide only temporary incognito chat options.
It seems Apple is banking on the idea that users are willing to sacrifice some convenience for enhanced privacy, especially as apprehensions about AI grow. While the company is integrating some of Google’s Gemini technology into its systems, it appears to be turning perceived limitations of its AI into a unique selling point. As noted, many leading AI chatbots rely on extensive memory systems to tailor responses and enhance future interactions. However, Apple plans to impose stricter controls on memory usage, including limitations on what information can be stored and the duration of retention.
